Eels

Good morning, The Week Don from NIWA came to teach us about Eels. Here are 10 facts I learnt. Eels can swim backwards. There is an Australian long fin eel. Long Fin Eels hide most off the time in the day then lunge out at their prey. The Long fin Eel  has teeth going backwards.  At night they can go on land. The short fin Eels eat crabs. The short fin Eels live by the coast that is  why they eat crabs. You can rip out an Eels ear bone to see how old It is by the lines. You have to kill the Eel to see how old it is. All Eels go to toga to breed. This is an 2m long Eel that he caught in lake Ellesmere By Isaac

Good morning, This morning the batten team and I listened  to  Phil and Janet talking about South Sudan. Here are 6 Facts on South Sudan.  Salam Alaykum - A greeting to someone.  Alaykum   Aalam - What you say back to the person greeting you. Juba is the Capital of South Sudan. It is too dangerous to drive on the road because people will try and rob you. 100 Pounds in their country is worth 30c here in New Zealand. South Sudan's top food is water and flour which tastes like cardboard. They also eat beans and rice. By Isaac

Good morning, The Batten team was watching a live stream on waterways and this is what I learnt. What the Batten team  learnt was... Water never runs out because of the water cycle.  Sometimes they use water from one stream to another stream. And I learnt about fossil water ( Fossil water can even   ancient  water  on other planets and it is used for several purposes including consumption. ) We also don't have any in NZ. Here Is  a picture of us watching the webinar. By Isaac.

Good morning, This is about  Thursdays Eels Adventure. On Thursday the baton team and Hilary team waked to the Heathcote river. when we arrived  we got told the roles then set off to the first activeady. the activeadys were fun but my favorite was water bugs because I thought  it was fun sucking up bugs with a tube from water and learning about them. Did you know some water bugs have to live in clean water. I have some pictures to shear. By Isaac
